Thanks for your patience as I paused most things kkarenism to enjoy my summer travels & adventures 🏖️ 💒 🇰🇷 🎶 Can you believe we’re in the last quarter of 2024? It’s actually insane how fast this year has flown by 🤯 79 days left of this year… what are the top 3 things you still need to close the loop on before 2025?
Let’s start with something funny 💀
Grow your network of champions and advocates
Find someone who believes in you even when you don't believe in yourself.
Think of your champions and advocates as people who will speak up for the value and impact that you bring. These are the people who have worked with you, seen your skills firsthand, and are happy to give you a recommendation. The more champions and advocates you have, the more opportunities that can come your way.
Excel in your current role. Performance is at the core of every job offer, promotion, reward, or opportunity. If you can’t fulfil your current expectations, it may be hard to convince managers to take a bet on your potential.
Raise your hand. As you perform your current role well, it’s important to find ways to add extra value. Think about what types of projects you can take on to add value to your team and stakeholders. How can you improve processes on your team? How can you make the lives of your stakeholders easier?
Advocate for yourself. If you don’t talk about the great work that you’re doing, other people won’t know about it. Always look for opportunities to share your work, learnings, and best practices with others. Make sure that you share updates on your progress towards goals and expectations with your manager at least once a month.
Note: I am simply sharing my learnings from having 300+ coffee chats all the way up to the C-Suite level. From here, you're empowered to do your own research and make your own decisions!
